Christmas Events in Central Florida

Due to the remarkably mild weather we are able to enjoy in Central Florida all year long, some may say that it just doesn’t feel like Christmas here. However, there are volumes of events and activities in and around Central Florida throughout the holiday season that are sure to get you in the Christmas spirit!

Let’s start off with the heaviest of holiday hitters because, without a doubt, Disney World certainly propels the merriment of the holiday season to the next level with its multitude of joyful Christmas events. Disney’s biggest holiday draw is called Very Merry after Hours and runs select nights now through December 21st. This four-hour-long evening frivolity includes a Christmas parade, a dazzling fireworks display, the Mickey and Minnie Very Merry Memories Show and seasonal songs performed by all your favorite Disney characters. You can even record your own merry memories with Disney World’s photo services. The Magic Kingdom is festively decorated for Christmas, of course, and holiday fare can be found throughout the entire park.

Universal Orlando is also chock-full of holiday fun and festivities with live holiday concerts; a holiday parade including Macy’s balloons; and the Grinchmas at Who-Ville, evening Christmas projection show.

If you like Busch Gardens, that entire park is transformed into Christmas Town, where you can meet Rudolph and enjoy entertaining holiday shows including Christmas on Ice.

SeaWorld is also making a big holiday splash with its Winter Wonderland, complete with floating Christmas trees, over 3 million holiday lights and Santa in his North Pole Village.

Legoland offers its Holly Jolly Jubilee at Santa’s Workshop and a spectacular lighting of a 30-foot tree built from Legos.

St. Augustine’s Nights of Lights, with a stunning display of millions of lights covering its charming historic downtown, is also certainly a must-see.

Or join the Surfing Santas at Cocoa Beach on Christmas Eve. Have you ever seen over 500 surfers dressed as the jolly big guy? It’s definitely a sight to behold!

Ice at Gaylord Palms is another cool way to crank up the holiday cheer, with a snow tubing hill, seasonal concerts, Cirque du Soleil shows and an ice carving crafted from 2 million pounds of ice!

Don’t leave Daytona Beach behind when it comes to Christmas fun. Daytona offers an impressive Christmas light show, a Christmas boat parade and Daytona International Speedway’s Magic of Lights Christmas drive-through extravaganza is back this year as well.

Wander through a wintery sculpture light maze of considerable proportions, meander along an ice skating trail and shop for holiday gifts at the Enchant Christmas event held at Tropicana Field.

If you’ve ever read the Polar Express and were as enchanted as I was, you can take the hour-long Polar Express in Mt Dora, which comes complete with dancing and musical entertainment, and hot cocoa to warm your soul.

Miss the snow? Then celebrate Christmas in Celebration, Florida where it does “snow”. You can also visit with Santa, enjoy scads of holiday street performances and take a horse-drawn carriage ride while you are there.

Orlando is pretty impressive at the holidays too, with a nightly light and music show which is – wait for it…synchronized with the enormous Christmas tree on Lake Eola!

Want to be impressed? Lake Wales offers a Christmas escapade you won’t soon forget. Take your holiday tours to a new height at Bok Tower. At 298 feet above sea level, it is the highest point in peninsular Florida. Continue your Lake Wales Christmas adventure with a holiday stroll through the massive gardens on the Pinewood Estates – established in 1929, beautifully decorated for Christmas and visited by 29 million tour takers over the years.

Altamonte Springs lights things up on December 7th with a magnificent fireworks show and a wonderful array of holiday displays and Christmas entertainment.

The quaint and historic town of New Smyrna Beach kicks off the holiday season in delectable style with the New Smyrna Beach Great Cookie Challenge December 3rd   on festive Flagler Avenue. Then, there’s the Merry & Bright Christmas event at The Grand Ol’ Barn with a holiday marketplace, Santa and Mrs. Claus, holiday music, a bounce house, snow cone and cookie bars, as well as a holiday drink bar for adults. You can also take in a presentation of A Christmas Carol at The Hub on Canal and Christmas Eve Beach Yoga if you need some winding down. There is even a Christmas parade on the water! The New Smyrna Beach Boat Parade – with all of its holiday revelry and boats decorated to the nines for the holiday season – sets sail at dusk in Edgewater near marker 53 and continues on through to Riverside Park in New Smyrna Beach.
